Massa Completes First Laps in a Kart

Felipe Massa has finally returned to the track following his accident in the Hungarian Grand Prix, when he completed a few laps driving a kart in Granja Viana. The Brazilian is to make his first full-time track appearance in the famous karting event at Granja Viana in November and was yesterday allowed by his personal doctor Dino Altman to get a first taste of the four-wheeler.

“He was in very good condition and he said to the doctor he was feeling OK. There were no complaints. He had been a bit worried about the pressure of his helmet on the part of his head where he suffered the fracture, but it was OK,” said a source close to Felipe Massa, according to planetf1.com website.

Before taking part in the aforementioned karting event in November, the Brazilian will fly to Maranello during the course of this week in order to continue his recovery programme for an F1 return. Consequently, “he will use the static simulator at the Gestione Sportiva” as announced by the Ferrari official site.

Although highly unlikely, his early return to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 1st is still a possibility, especially if we are to consider Massa's strong will to make the grid in the United Arab Emirates event. Team boss Stefano Domenicali did not dismiss the idea either, although insisting that precaution is top of the list for both Ferrari and the 28-year old Brazilian.

“I don't want to exclude anything, but we need to be cautious,” said Domenicali.

“He would like to be back for the last race (in Abu Dhabi on 1 November) but that depends on further tests with the FIA doctor,” added the aforementioned source, close to Massa.
