Mercedes-Benz’s C63 AMG Black Series was only built in 800 examples, slightly more than initially intended, but the company decided to fulfill customer demand.
Fast-forward four years, and one of the cars only drove 2,533 kilometers (1,573 miles) from new. The one-owner car is now for sale, and RM Sotheby’s has announced it is coming under the hammer this September. If the low mileage was not impressive enough, this example comes with a custom paint job and full documentation.
The exterior shade is called “Fire Opal Red,” and it has a black racing stripe on the driver’s side. The interior features leather and Alcantara, and the vehicle has multiple optional extras.
Among them is a reverse camera, the AMG exterior trim package, heated front seats, piano black interior trim, rear seats, shadow-line look for the trim elements that were usually chrome-finished, and 19-inch wheels.
This vehicle was owned by an Italian collector, who is described as a connoisseur of AMG products in particular and Mercedes-Benz cars in general. Unfortunately, the auctioneers do not have an explanation why someone would drive so few miles in a car as exciting as this.
We find it curious, since it has been used and not just stored, and appears to have been configured to be suitable for daily use (IMHO nobody puts heated seats on a car meant to sit in a collection, and the reverse camera also fits the bill).
So, for whatever reason this car has not driven an impressive mileage since it was shipped out of the Bremen factory on October 2, 2012, someone else can buy it and drive it to its true glory.
This model comes with a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 unit which has “borrowed” a few parts from the SLS AMG. Those parts include a lighter crankshaft, forged pistons, and forged connecting rods.
Thanks to the changes, its 510 HP are just 53 HP away from the SLS AMG, and it redlines at 7,200 rpm. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) is performed in 3.7 seconds, while top speed is determined at 186 mph (300 km/h).
Evidently, getting a rare car is a challenge from a financial point of view, as this model has appreciated in value since it was new, and it is estimated to sell for a sum between £115,000 and £150,000. We expect this model to change hands on the auction organized by RM Sotheby’s on September 7, 2016.
