Leaked Photos of the New E-Class

There are leaked official photos of the new E-class on the internet and we are taking advantage of them.

In the photos provided by autoscoops.eu we can see a cognac colored Mercedes that looks like it came from the future, because of its rectangular headlamps and odd looking tail lights. That is until you see the grille and instantly realize what car it is.

It definitely has the Mercedes looks and feel, it looks majestic, like a big boat floating over the road. This might just be one true Mercedes, one like we haven't seen for a while from the German manufacturer. There are strips of LED lights that are used as fog lamps, while the tail lights and the whole back end look like the rear end of a Hyundai Sonata. This is a good thing, because the resemblance is not that obvious and it gives the car presence.

The new E is focused on safety and that shows because Merc has created a new impact absorbing bonnet that rises 5 cm to lessen the injury of the cyclists, pedestrians or anyone else you might hit. There is also a system that recognizes potential collisions and warns the driver through the pedal.

Goodies like Night vision, blind spot departure lane warning and all the other S-class mumbo jumbo are not available. There are new engines such as 200 CDI, 220 CDI and 250 CDI give it pace, while the 300 CDI and 350 BlueTec are available for the luxury clients. Performance petrol variants include the AMG built engines with about 600 hp.

The new version is due to be released at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show in March.
