Lancia-Chrysler Dealers Are Born

Italian carmaker Fiat announced today, together with its American let's-call-it subsidiary Chrysler, the start of the reorganization and integration project of the Chrysler and Lancia dealerships.

In a statement released today, Fiat says that from now on the common dealerships will be known throughout Europe as Lancia. In the UK however, where the Italian brand is not currently present, the dealerships will wear the Chrysler badge.

"This operation, aimed at creating important synergies by fully exploiting the potentials of the two networks, is a further step forward in implementing a more efficient sales network and increasing quality in the distribution of new product ranges, spare parts and servicing,"
Fiat says in the statement.

The goal of the reorganization and integration project is to create a newtwork of dealers comprising over 1,000 locations by 2014. They will all work with FGA Capital, the company which took over financing services for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge product distributors in Europe.

The dealership structure come nearly a month after Fiat revealed that all Chrysler vehicles to be sold in Europe will bear the Lancia logo. Dealers in Europe will get Lancia versions of the following Chrysler models: the new 300C large sedan (2011), the restyled Voyager large minivan (2011), a U.S.-built compact sedan (2012) and a U.S.-built compact hatchback/station wagon (2012). The future European-built Chrysler Sebring will also be sold as a Lancia in Europe.
