Kurt Busch Wins All Star Race

After on Friday qualifying was rained out, Kurt Busch started the Charlotte All Star race from pole, led for 19 laps and ended up winning the All Star race, for the first time in his career, despite hitting the wall twice.

That’s the long story told short of a race which witnessed Jimmie Johnson leading the way in the second and third 20-lap segments, while Busch was fighting to keep control of the car which send him against the wall two times.

The same car allowed Busch however to hold off Johnson and Martin Truex after two caution periods were dictated. On the final restart, Busch managed to keep the two at bay and claim the first All Star race of his career.

"Our car was on the money when it counted," Busch said according to Autosport. "We really had a fast race car and it was a pleasure to drive it. The segment before that though, I wouldn't have given a million bucks for it. But now it's got a million-dollar name to it.”

"The right side, we have to replace it, and we'll think about of bringing this car back for next week. I'm very proud of our effort tonight as a team and how my crew chief Steve Addington and I continue to develop our relationship."

Martin Truex Jr ended up finishing the race second, while Johnson was thrown all the way down to 13th place. Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, and Tony Stewart completed the top five.
