Kovalainen Reveals Heavy Head Concussion after RoC Crash

Heikki Kovalainen went to Dusseldorf last weekend to have a good time during the season ending event Race of Champions. Instead, only a couple of minutes into the Sunday action, he was on an ambulance, being taken to the nearest hospital for a medical check with his head.

You've all heard (some of you might have also witnessed) what happened to Kova at the RoC event the past weekend, when the Finn's Audi R8 LMS lost grip and crashed through the barriers and into the concrete wall on the side of the specially-designed track within the ESPRIT Arena. He was immediately taken to the nearest hospital and it was reported that suffered only minor injuries in the accident.

However, as soon as he was released from the German medical centre, he checked into another one in Switzerland, as his head hurt like hell. According to the Lotus F1 driver, the doctors recommended him to be “put to bed at home as a precaution” due to “heavy concussion” and a headache.

Keeping in touch with his fans via Twitter, Kovalainen revealed he will undergo further tests in the days to come, as a precautionary measure.

Been put to bedrest at home as a precaution, heavy concussion, further tests next few days as head took a big hit,” his message on Twitter red.

Alongside him in the Audi R8 was his girlfriend Catherine Hyde, who also suffered some injuries as a result of the aforementioned accident. Also via Twitter, he revealed that she suffered a hairline fracture of her pelvis and hip, and damaged leg muscles, while adding: “Both of us (are) on bed rest for a while.”
