Kia Announces 15% July Sales Increase

Kia Motors Corporation announced today its global sales figures for the month of July, which included export sales, domestic sales and sales from overseas plants. During the second month of the summer, the South Koran company sold 208,074 passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles, adding up to a year-on-year increase of 15.0% compared to June 2011.

All major markets that the carmaker is focusing on reported substantial gains, with China showing one of he biggest - a 45.2 percent jump in sales to 34,419 units delivered. Meanwhile, the European continent was a solid performer for the carmaker that managed to beet averages by a substantial margin for a 26.6 percent overall increase.

In North America, Kia delivered 51,887 cars for a total increase of 26.3 percent, while the domestic market of South Korea registered a 9.7 percent increase in demand for Kias.

Through the first seven months of 2011, Kia’s global sales have increased by 19.1 percent year-on-year to reach 1,412,191 units. North America has experienced the highest gain to date in this year - 38.9 percent (330,086 units sold) while the remaining regions have all shown strong cumulative year-on-year sales increases.

Kia’s best selling model in overseas markets for the month of July was still the C-segment Cerato (known as ‘Forte’ in some markets) with 34,452 units sold.  The Sportage compact CUV was the second best seller again with 28,079 units delivered, while the Sorento mid-size CUV, B-segment Rio and Soul urban crossover vehicle followed with 21,408, 19,403 and 16,102 units sold respectively.
