Kallio Will Miss Laguna Seca Due to Hand Injury

Unfortunately for Mika Kallio, the Laguna Seca event will be a no show this weekend, as the injury he sustained in the very last lap of the Dutch Grand Prix last Saturday will keep the Fin sidelined for the next few weeks.

The news was confirmed by Kallio himself earlier today, as he admitted his disappointment over missing his first outing on the Laguna Seca circuit. Less than a week ago, when running in 6th place with only 3 corners to go, the Pramac Racing rider lost control of his bike and slid to the runoffs with his hand trapped underneath it, producing severe damage to one of his fingers.

I was so excited to race in Laguna Seca, but I guess destiny wanted it to be this way and I will have to renounce. It's a pity,” said Kallio, who confirmed that he would risk an infection if making the grid at Laguna Seca.

We have taken this decision together with Pramac Racing Managers and I think this is probably the best solution. Laguna would have been a new circuit to learn for me and with a precarious physical condition we thought it would have been too risky,” added Kallio.

Pramac Racing will contest with only one rider in the North American event – Niccolo Canepa – as the team's officials did not announce a replacement for Kallio. The Fin revealed his efforts will now fully focus on making a quick return, at Sachsenring.

I will look after my self in the best way possible to be in good form at the Sachsenring, which is by the way one of my favourites circuits of the world championship,” concluded Kallio.
