Jordan Feels Robbed by Schumacher's Decision

Former Formula One team owner Eddie Jordan admitted his frustration over the news that Michael Schumacher will indeed not make his Formula One return this season. While agreeing with the 40-year old German for not making his F1 return unless 100% fit, the Irishman doesn't hold back from accusing Schu for taking too much time to make up his mind.

Almost 2 weeks have passed since Schumacher initially announced his F1 return, a period of time in which tickets have been selling like pancakes all over Europe – Valencia and Spa in particular. However, only a little over a week to his potential return, Schu suddenly decided he can't do it.

Lance Armstrong wouldn't compete in the Tour de France if he wasn't 100% fit and Schumacher is exactly the same. But I am surprised it has taken this long (for him to make a decision). He has the speed but not the ability to go two hours in a race with his neck after the accident,” said Jordan in an interview with German publication TalkSport.

Ferrari would have had the best medical people on the case but he is not up to the job. We have been robbed because I wanted to see how he could cope with these young guys,” added the 61-year old Irishman.

Despite the immense setback suffered by Ferrari, Jordan still believes the Italian team might benefit from such a move. First of all, they can accelerate Felipe Massa's recovery process in order for the Brazilian to return faster into the Ferrari F60's cockpit this year, and secondly, maybe it's not such a wild guess to imagine Fernando Alonso in the all-red suit in the closing rounds of 2009.

There are a number of drivers who won't get a drive next year and what's to say that Ferrari won't try to do a deal with (Renault managing director) Flavio Briatore as my information is that Alonso is going to Ferrari next year. Why don't they bring it forward? If I was Ferrari that is what I would try to do,” added Jordan.
