Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels may be one of my favorite comedy films of the late 1990s. But Jason Statham is famous for other movies like Transporter or The Italian Job. Sure, The Expendables also had something to do with the 47-year-old former diver and his trip to the A-listers’ club. Furious 7 made him world renown as the villain, a role that appears to come to the likes of the franchise’s fans worldwide.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, the British actor made it quite clear Furious 8 will see him taking back his role, playing Deckard Shaw. “We’re already talking about doing another one - part eight,” Statham told the reporter, which indicates he’s going to be back.

Returning seems to work quite fine for the actor’s roles. After all, think of Crank or the sequel High Voltage. Both are action movies in which the lead character is literally coming back from the dead.

We wouldn’t be surprised for the Fast and Furious screenplay writers to find something similar for Shaw too. Although, considering what Dwayne The Rock Johnson told him at the end of Furious 7, we’d bet our money on an escape from prison.

Whatever the case may be, Statham seems to be quite glad of his return in the next installment of the highly acclaimed franchise. “I’m a newcomer, y’know, I just got invited to the part in the last one, so it’s nice to know I’m going to be doing another,” he goes on to say in the interview.
