Jaguar, Partner of the 2010 Royal Designers for Industry Awards

British luxury manufacturer Jaguar announced today it will be partnering with RSA, hence becoming a partner of the 2010 Royal Designers for Industry Awards. The event will take place on November 25 and will give a few recipients the highest honour a designer can receive in the UK.

This year's designers, proposed to enter the exclusive club of the recipients, are Patrick Bellew (environmental engineer), Peter Clegg (architect), David Watkins (jeweller), Edward Cullinan (architect), and Sir Terence Conran (designer.

"At Jaguar, design has led the revitalization of our product line-up over the past three years. We consider design innovation to be one of the most important attributes for the brand and have created a new wave of beautiful and modern cars; cars that Jaguar's founder, Sir William Lyons would be proud of,” said Ian Callum, Design Director of Jaguar and once recipient of the award.

“Sir William was a man of great vision and incredible understanding of form and function so I am delighted that Jaguar is once again working with the RSA to support these awards, as Sir William himself was awarded an RDI in 1954."

Separately, but also as a means to once again bring the design language of Jaguar under the spotlight, the British carmaker announced the launch of an iPad app meant to honor 75 years of Jaguar cars.

Called Jaguar 75, the app uses videos, heritage images and even interviews to bring into focus the heritage of the brand. As usual, the app can be downloaded from the iTunes store.
