Jaguar Land Rover Announces Record Sales

Jaguar and Land Rover have just revealed record-breaking sales performances in March from key international markets, most notably the UK, China and India. Combined results for the two brands were up 6 percent during last month and 13 percent for the first quarter.

Let’s start with the famous British 4x4 maker, who saw a 30 percent urge in UK sales for the Range Rover 2011 model year, which resulted in the company beating its previous record set last year with total sales of 11,400 for the month − the highest monthly total in the company's 63 year history.

Similar figures came from India and China, where the automaker saw the best March retail figures on record, up 61 percent and 33 percent respectively. Other notable results were recorded by North America up 24% and Russia up 47% for the month.

Meanwhile, Jaguar set an all-time monthly sale record in India and reported the best March figures on record for the Chinese market. Other notable market performances came from Russia up 70%, Germany up 49% and Japan up 34%.

"Jaguar is continuing to make very positive headway in a number of emerging markets thanks to our strongest ever vehicle line up which was completed in 2010 with the new XJ. This latest model has had a positive impact on our global sales performance and the introduction of a 3.0 liter engine for the incredibly important Chinese and Russian markets will drive further success for the flagship model,"
commented on the news JAdrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director.

"Despite a challenging business environment, Jaguar Land Rover is flourishing on a global scale with March sales reflecting the confidence consumers have in our brands and products," said Phil Popham, Group Sales Operations Director. He continued: "We have ambitious plans to grow our business and it is clear that there is a strong appetite in the market for exciting new products, powertrains and technologies which will further improve our penetration in key markets and segments."
