Hyundai to Offer Incentives for Toyota Owners

If Toyota thought things couldn’t get any worse, it was dead wrong. The Japanese car manufacturer is sinking deeper and deeper, while car producers in the US continue to offer important incentives for all Toyota customers.

As you might remember, last week Ford and General Motors announced they will offer a bonus for Toyota customers looking to trade their car for one of their own. Chrysler followed, offering $1,000 to Toyota Tundra, Tacoma and Sienna owners interested in buying or leasing any new Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge or Ram vehicle.

As expected, other car manufacturers started to look at this situation as an important opportunity to turn in Toyota fans, with Hyundai also announcing an incentive program. The Korean car manufacturer Hyundai is offering $1,000 to customers willing to trade in their Toyota for a Sonata, Elantra or Elantra Touring.

"Our dealers thought this would help in their sales effort," said Chris Hosford, a Hyundai spokesman.

Honda, another important player on the US market, said that it has no intention on following in the footsteps of Ford, GM, Chrysler and Hyundai. So it seems that the Japanese want to keep their honor intact and play fair.

"We will not react in a predatory way toward either Toyota or Toyota customers,"
said John Mendel, American Honda Motor Co.'s executive vice president.

Toyota seems to be facing an important problem, as the faulty pedal disease has spread in Europe also. The Japanese car manufacturer announced that it will also recall 1,8 million cars from the Old Continent.
