Ahead of the i20 supermini's debut at the Paris Motor Show next month, Hyundai has dropped more information about their B-segment contender. However, the real story of the day is the photo above, a sketch for the i20 coupe which will enter production in 2015.
Just like the bigger i30 Coupe, this new 3-door will have its own body panels, similar to the 5-door, but more sporty and muscular. Hyundai says the i20 Coupe will combine “fun driving, a distinctive character and sporty refinement.”

We'll have to see if their it will be as fun to drive as they say, since Hyundais aren't really known for driver engagement. However, it's sure to be one of the most stylish superminis on the market. Many companies have cut the 3-door body from the lineup and it's pleasantly refreshing to see the Koreans still remember why really small coupes are cool.

Our North American friends and readers will probably not understand what we're talking about. But the little Hyundai reminds us of one of the coolest fast Fords of the 90s, the little Puma coupe. Based on the Fiesta platform, this German-built car was one of the most enjoyable of its era, proving you could have fun without breaking the bank.

In 1997, Top Gear magazine named it the best car of that year. Before the supercars and million-pound production budgets, a young Tiff Needell took to the wheel and managed to scare Jeremy Clarkson with some skillfully done handbrake turns.

While there are more superminis on sale today than in 1997, most don't offer a 3-door coupe body or simply look ugly. The new member of the i20 family will still have to compete with the Ford Fiesta and the SEAT Ibiza SC, a new generation of which will debut in 2016.
