Hyundai’s U.S. arm has priced the Sonata 2.0T model, also announcing that the Sonata Hybrid will make its debut by the end of the current year.
The Hyundai Sonata 2.0T uses a 2.0 liter gasoline Theta II engine that uses a twin-scroll turbocharger and direct injection to deliver 274 hp at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 269 lb-ft, which is available from 1,750 to 4,500 rpm. The unit is matted to a six-speed automatic gearbox with wheel-mounted paddle shifters and returns a fuel efficiency of 22 mpg for the city and 33 mpg for the highway.
The vehicle will have a starting price of $24,145 for the SE version, which comes with features such as 18-inch Hyper Silver alloy rims, a sports-tuned suspension and steering, dual automatic air conditioning, ESC/TCS/ABS/TPMS, metalgrain trimming, remote keyless entry and alarm, a Bluetooth system and others. Customers can also choose the Navigation and Sunroof package that includes a power-operated sunroof, a satnav system with high-resolution touch-screen display and premium speakers for the audio system.
Hyundai also offers a Limited version, which comes with a power sunroof, leather finish, heated seats, a premium audio system with HD radio and others. This no longer includes the sport-tuned suspension and steering. This incarnation of the Sonata 2.0T can be yours starting from $27,045. The optional extras’ list includes the Navigation package that brings a navigation system with a high-resolution touch-screen display, Infinity premium speakers and a rear backup camera.
"When we first showed the Sonata Turbo earlier this year, we promised more horsepower than our V6 competitors, with great four-cylinder fuel economy, all for under $25,000," said John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America president and CEO. "With the introduction of the Sonata 2.0T, we're delivering on all three of those commitments."
