"Yes, yet another XS650" some might say, but heed pour warning, the Holiday Customs bike is nothing you run into everyday... unless you own one or are their neighbors. If a truly simple and clean build is what you're after, then this one bike is the goddess of them all.
This is the third bike going this way, with the first still owned by Jared Johnson of Holiday customs and the second one being ridden by Alex of Arctic Monkeys. Funny how the build time went down from three months to just one: Jared is getting more and more skilled... and the bikes look better and better.
We instantly fell in love with the Schwinn bicycle-type frame which makes the bike look so retro, even childish and at the same time so aggressive, probably because of the riding position. All the lines are flowing smooth, all the roundness creating an even more pleasant feeling.
The 18” stock rear wheel is nicely complemented by the 21” one from a Honda dirt bike, with the hand-made rear fender extending way down between the rubber and the empty space behind the engine.
The custom exhaust pipes are as loud as it gets, and we totally dig the solution Jared found for the right side of the bike. The XS650 had no kickstart attached at the time the pipes were loaded, so the right exhaust had to be modified to accommodate the lever - it looks both classy and clever and we loved it. And it's also on the right side where the rear brake cable is running under a pulley, to avoid a problematic area.
The custom ribbed seat shared some of the leftover fabric with the hand grips for a perfect match. The bike is for sale at Holiday Customs, so if you feel like riding a “Schwinned” XS650, drop Jared a line. Seen on Pipeburn.
