Seeing the upcoming Formula E circuit in Miami being composed of straight lines and 90-degree corners might set you up thinking these electric single-seaters are rubbish and can’t turn properly. But you’d be wrong. They're at least as good as Formula 3 racecars, it's the event's nature that makes it look like that.
The eight-turn, 2.17 km (1.34 miles) circuit uses this layout because it’s located in Downtown Miami, Florida, along Biscayne Bay and around the streets of the AmericanAirlines Arena. Just like it happened in every other city the races were held so far.

The setting for the fifth race in the inaugural Formula E season was chosen by track design company Ayesa and you should cut them some slack for being the first all-electric championship in the world that needs space to run without interfering with the other motorsports.

“We’re delighted to be officially unveiling the circuit for the Miami ePrix, the host for round five of the FIA Formula E Championship,” said Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag. “Having two races in the US is very important to us with America’s rich motorsport heritage and the States being such an influential and burgeoning market for electric vehicles.”

Organizers making efforts to minimize the traffic jams caused by the event

Thinking of the traffic jams created by the racing day? Don’t worry, all Formula E events take place in one day to minimize the “damage”. The race will be organized with help from Andretti Sports Marketing, company that declared its support in making the event a world class experience.

The race is schedule to go live on March 14th, 2015, with the practice sessions starting at 8.00 am, qualifying rounds at 12.00 pm and the main event at 16.00 pm.
