I know, we’re all feeling a bit down now that the dust is starting to settle over what’s left of Top Gear. To recap, Jeremy punched a producer, got fired (or refused to come back as some would say), the BBC hired Chris Evans to continue and Jezza will do a new show with Captain Slow and the Hamster.
That being said, we’ll always miss the dynamic trio’s specials which were, in all honesty, the crème de la crème of the show. But did you ever wonder if they would be possible in real life? And if so, how much would they actually cost?
Well, we know that for the three presenters to travel to such far distances along with the camera and sound crew and all the logistics they’d the costs are extremely high. But what if you and two other friends just wanted to buy some beat down cars and travel through some really bad roads?
The guys from Car Leasing Made Simple put together an infographic showing how much it would cost to do some of the trips the guys did during their air time and the numbers are rather interesting.
For example, the trip through India would set you back around $47,000 (£29,710) in total. That would include everything you saw the guys do though, including the Beatles tribute they did, large banners for the trains, hosting a garden party at an embassy.
Split that three way and you get $15,600 per person and that includes the cars that you’d have to buy which, in the grand total of things, add up to around $33,000 (that includes shipping them over). You could just do the trip by train but that would defeat the purpose, right?
If you have a rich imagination, you could even do all sorts of crazy trips like theirs without having to travel halfway across the world with old cars with you. Any suggestions?
