Henning Solberg Targets Win in Rally Norway

Sebastien Loeb should not only fear the Ford works drivers for the Rally Norway win this weekend, but also Stobart Ford's Henning Solberg. Having ranked 3rd overall during the 2007 event, the Norwegian insisted he will only aim for the win this year.

The Stobart Ford driver started his 2009 WRC campaign with a great performance in Ireland – where he finished 4th overall – and looks set to continuing his good form with a win in Norway. He insisted that his aim for this weekend's event go far beyond beating his brother to the finish line.

“In Norway I want to change the positions of the Fords and the Citroens - I’m going for victory there. This is the event I have been looking forward to. We had a really good run in Ireland and I have taken a lot of confidence from that so hopefully we will be able to come away with a good result on my home event,” said Solberg in a press conference ahead of Rally Norway.

“Everyone is talking about the big battle with Petter but I’m not worrying about him, I just want to go as fast as I can for as long as I can. I know the stages reasonably well, they are in really good shape, and I think this will be a great rally; really exciting for all the Norwegian fans and a great chance to show Expert and Stobart what I can do,” added the Norwegian.

Back in 2007, only Ford's works drivers managed to get in front of him at the finish line, Mikko Hirvonen and Marcus Gronholm. The latter retired from the WRC at the end of the same year, which will theoretically leave Solberg only Hirvonen to battle with for the event win.

Starting the 2007 Rally Norway, only Ford drivers have managed to score podiums on rallies held on snow. This year's edition of the event will officially get under way on Thursday, at Oslo, and will end on Sunday.
