Held Launches 2011 Arctic Motorcycle Winter Gloves

The British division of German rider equipment company Held has just launched the e first new pair of gloves from its 2011 range in the UK. Dubbed Arctic, the gloves are destined to be used during winter rides, helping the user to retain warmth thanks to the unique PrimaLoft lining.

Specifically, the aniline goatskin and Taslan outer encases a warm Thinsulate thermal lining, which is generously applied across the back of the hand to protect against windchill, with a lighter weight coating on the palm of the hand to maintain feel and dexterity.

Between these layers sits a GORE-TEX climate membrane, to keep the user dry, while remaining completely windproof and highly breathable.

Other features include special Temperfoam-backed, leather-covered GRP hard knuckle protectors, further shock absorbing foam on the fingers, double leather on the hand-edge and ultra-abrasion resistant SUPERFABRIC padding.

All these materials are combined with articulated stretch panels, various Velcro and zip adjusters, and 3M Scotchlite reflectors. In addition to that, the left hand glove has an integrated rubber rain wiper which pops out on the side of the digit finger and helps you clear the visor of rain droplets.

However, below zero degrees Celsius, you are likely to need undergloves, muffs or heated grips as well.

“The German kit specialists’ latest creation draws on seven decades of glove-making experience (which has led to the Bavarian family business being voted Best Brand for Gloves every year by readers of the massively influential Motorrad magazine) to produce what is expected to become Held’s bestselling winter product,” a company statement reads.

The 2011 Held Arctic gloves retail for GBP99.99.
