Harley-Davidson Radical Elegance Is a Poor Choice of Name for a Rich Custom Softail

No matter where you look in the custom motorcycle industry, you see mostly Harley-Davidsons. Of that group, a large pack comes as truly complete builds, made with care and taste, impressive in appearance, and wearing fitting and very descriptive post-conversion names.
But there are also exceptions, instances when no matter how impressive a build is, some minor element seems to ruin it. When it comes to garages that roll out custom bikes like there is no tomorrow, that minor element is most of the time the bike's name.

Let's take the Swiss from Bundnerbike, for instance. These guys have hundreds of projects in their portfolio already, including what is considered to be the world's most expensive custom Harley, the $2 million Bucherer Blue Edition. Most of them wear names that are bound to stick with you, like Iron Cross, Viking, or GoldenEye, just to name the most recent projects of theirs we've covered.

Probably because of the large number of bikes they rolled out over the years, and given how inspiration doesn't come along all the time, they also offer incredible bikes with poor choices of name, like A Piece of Art, Noble Athlete, or this here Radical Elegance.

Like a bunch of other Bundnerbike projects, the Radical Elegance is based on a Softail Slim S, one originally born in 2017. It got the shop's usual treatment to turn into a rich custom, including a stretching of the frame, the addition of a large, 300 mm wheel at the rear, and the fitting of an Ohlins fork at the front.

As usual, the engine on the bike is the original one, but it was enhanced with the inclusion of an aftermarket exhaust system, in this case in the form of matt black exhaust pipes of undisclosed provenance. The bike's body parts (fenders, fuel tank, and covers) were not left to change either and got their share of modifications too.

When all was said and done, and this full custom came into the light, the Softail was drowned in black and dark brown, because that's the color that fits custom Harleys the most.

We have no info on how much the Radical Elegance is worth in this form, but Bundnerbike is not one to cut corners, so expect a hefty price, despite the official name of the build robbing a lot of the bike's appeal.

Do you think I'm exaggerating with this whole name-must-be-as-powerful-as-the-vehicle thing? Just think of how much worse the Corvette would have been had Chevy decided to name it the Sport Beauty or something. Or if the Harley-Davidson Road King would have been sold as the Touring Boy.

Such names kind of spoil all the fun for both stock and modified machines, don't you think?
