Generally, when a custom motorcycle garage decides to give some old bike its own personal spin, that’s all you get: a single motorcycle, modified in a more or less unique manner. But there’s one group out there that clearly likes group play.
The group is Spanish El Solitario MC. It has been in the business of reinterpreting motorcycles for a while now, and almost always it managed to surprise through simplicity and wacky ideas. Sure, they do like to make one-offs, but at times trios are their favorites.

A while back, we talked about the Honda CG Trio Pop. Made as a nod to BMX bikes, there are three builds in the series, based on CGs from the 1980s, and called after the conversion was over Black!, Rock!, and Punk!. But now it’s time for a more serious proposal.

Enter the Desert Wolves, formerly known as 2017 Harley-Davidson Roadsters.

With these three machines El Solitario tried not long ago to launch what they call a “disruptive and captivating vision, aimed to dictate trends, not follow them.” We’re not sure how that is going, but we are pretty certain we like these two-wheelers.

A long list of changes had to be made to the bikes to make them as they appear in Desert Wolves attire. First off, to make them true off-roaders, the weight was reduced by 228 kg (502 pounds) through various undisclosed changes. Then came the fitting of custom parts.

New wheels (19-inches big) with a new braking system, Dunlop Flat Track tires, and carbon fiber hand guards and fenders make the trio of Harleys look right at home on a desert floor. And they should be handling great there too, as all the needed hardware is there: swingarms from XR1200s, Ohlins custom TTX front forks and rear shocks, and a chain conversion, just to name a few.

Very European-like, we are not being told what happened to the motorcycles once they were completed, nor are we given any estimate on how much it cost to put them together.
