Hamilton's Wax Statue Arrives at Madame Tussauds

Just as we reported about two months ago, Lewis Hamilton, the Formula 1 World Champion, was celebrated by the famous British museum Madame Tussauds London with a lifelike wax statue.

After six months of hard work and £150,000 invested, Lewis Hamilton's wax figure finally arrived at Madame Tussauds' Sports Zone on Wednesday this week. The statue wears an exact replica of his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes race suit and replica Lewis Hamilton race helmet.

Hamilton, who has become the youngest drivers' title winner in the sport's 58 year history, underwent no less than 300 measurements for the  Madame Tussauds' waxwork. Reference shots with the Formula 1 champion were also taken and as well as details including the comparison of the color of his eyes with artificial eyeballs so the wax statue looks as realistic as possible. 12 sculptors and artists have worked for half a year to create the masterpiece that you can now admire if you happen to be visiting the famous London wax figures museum.

In case you can't make it to London right now, you can take a look at the video below and see the new star of the sports zone at the wax museum.

And since we're speaking about having his having his image immortalized at Madame Tussauds, we take this chance to remind you that this is not the only privilege that Hamilton has been lately given. After having his portrait painted with remote cars, the F1 champion was also celebrated by the Royal Mail with a set of postage stamps. The series of six stamps feature Hamilton and his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 car. Prices are rather spicy and fans have to pay £4.42 for the traditional mint set and £22.50 for a set that comes with a Lewis Hamilton special folder.
