Google has finally resolved an Android Auto bug that was causing an “Internet connection is not stable” error when trying to voice the Google Assistant.
The issue appeared earlier this year and broke down voice commands in Android Auto, essentially making it impossible for drivers to reply to messages or start a call without touch input.

Google has previously tried to fix the bug on several occasions, but all the updates that the company shipped for the Google app, which also powers the Google Assistant, only restored the normal behavior in Android Auto for a limited number of users.

Earlier today, however, Google finally pushed a fix that appears to fix the “Internet connection is not stable” problem once and for all for pretty much everybody.

Thanks for all the responses. The Google Assistant team released a fix to resolve the ’internet connection is not stable’ issue. We would like to check if you are still getting this error message after updating your Google app to the latest version,” a member of the Android Auto team announced.

Several other users have also confirmed that the latest updates released by Google resolve the issue and voice commands now work as expected in Android Auto.

So if you previously encountered the aforementioned error message in Android Auto, what you need to do is update all Google apps to the latest version to get the fix. This can be done from the Google Play Store all automatically, and once the updates are installed, you should reconnect the phone to the car to see if the error still shows up.

If it does, you’re recommended to clear the cache and the data of the Google apps that are related to Android Auto and then connect the mobile device to the vehicle. However, you must be running the latest app versions for this workaround to make a difference.
