The VW group is off to a great start in 2012, with excellent sales and revenue figures for the first quarter.
They have announced a 26.3% increase in their sales revenues for the first three months of the year to €47.3/$62.5 billion. Furthermore, operating profit is also up by 10.2% to €3.2/$4.2 billion excluding VW’s profits of €848/$1.12 million from their Chinese joint ventures.
With 2.3 million vehicles shifted so far in 2012 (up by 11.3%), their share of the global passenger car market has increased by 0.3% to 12.2%. Of the 2.3 million cars sold, 1.2 million are from the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, 340.000 from Audi (with 77.000 sold in China), 206.000 from its Czech partner Skoda, 99.000 from SEAT, 2000 from Bentley and a combined total of 170.000 commercial vehicles from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Scania and MAN.
Volkswagen looks to keep the ascending sales figures trend going and is confident in doing so with 40 new models coming out this year, we have no reason to doubt them.
