General Motors has delivered 171,486 vehicle in the United States in January 2014, the automaker reports, adding that total sales were down 12 percent compared to the same month the previous year.
Year-over-year retail sales were down 10 percent, while fleet deliveries decline 18 percent, the latter due to a planned reduction in rental vehicle sales. However, the GM says the Chevrolet Cruze and Cadillac SRX had their best ever January sales, while Chevy overall retail sales went up 8 percent.
“We are building long-term value for our customers and it starts with award-winning new products,” said Kurt McNeil, US vice president of sales operations. “We have major launches underway and we are going to accelerate brand-building and other growth initiatives, which include executing our winning strategy to sell more pickup trucks with larger cabs, more features and advanced technology.”
Additionally, GM announced that the all-new 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, began shipping to dealers in late January.
