You may remember that General Motors decided to not use Facebook any more, in any official form or shape, as they considered it not worthy of their time - they have not run any ads on the website since. However, now they seem to have changed their opinion on the matter, and are looking to get back into Facebook, but this time they want to do so as a paid advertiser.
Discussions are underway now, according to GM's interim marketing chief, Alan Batey, who said: “We’re still actively talking to them and looking at opportunities that come our way [ . . . ] I wouldn’t tell you that there’s a Mexican standoff here. We just didn’t see the value of the ads."

General Motors officials argue that last year they spent $40 million to be part of the Facebook ad craze, yet they only $10 million was actually paid to the company, while the rest of the money was spent on advertising as well as paying the people involved in the whole operation.

Still, Batey is still not convinced by the idea. He concluded ambiguously, by saying: “I wouldn’t want to predict if there’s something, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if there were some things.
