Last we reported of General Motors’ negotiations with the UAW union, the automotive giant was going to reopen the pring Hill Tennessee production facility that was closed in 2009 due to the economic crisis.
Now, Saint Louis Today reports that the Wentzville plant in Missouri is to receive in investments to build new midsize pickups. As part of the negotiations with the local UAW representatives, the company will also ad ,850 new workers and a second shift to build the vehicles.
The plant currently is responsible for putting together the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans. The new production facilities are quite costly, so the next-gen Colorado pickup is a prime candidates to be built there, given their popularity.
"This will be a real shot in the arm for Wentzville and the St. Louis area. This really is a tribute to the men and women who work at the Wentzville assembly center and produce the best quality product at the best cost," said UAW Local 2250 bargaining chairman Mike Bullock.
