Revealed earlier this year at the New York Auto Show, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe falls nicely into the "Marmite" typology: you either love it, or you hate it. Well, we'd say there's also a third category, that of the people who secretly love it but are ashamed to admit it.
And even though we seem to live in a free world, there's no hiding from peer-pressure. The thought that somebody might stifle you for liking a car that's about 70 percent impractical is enough to make some hide their true feelings towards certain models. It was probably the case with the BMW X6 back when it was first introduced: everybody seemed to hate it, and yet its sales kept growing.

The thing with Sports Activity Coupes is that they are show-off cars, no question about it. They are the same thing to regular SUVs that a coupe is to its four-door sedan counterpart, with the notable difference that a lot of people consider SUVs to be quite useless in the first place. Therefore, a less practical version of them can only make things worse.

But all this negativity surrounding the SACs didn't stop Mercedes-Benz from providing competition to BMW offerings. It first started with the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe that went up against the X6 last year, and now it's the BMW X4's turn. And by the looks of it, we'd say the smaller Bavarian has its work cut out for it.

Contrary to the GLE Coupe, the GLC Coupe has the advantage of being built on a new platform, complete with modern technology and an appealing interior design. That's precisely what the GLE Coupe lacked. But as this video of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe on the roads around Stuttgart demonstrates, it's got the looks to stand out from the crowd without overdoing it.

Another thing worth noting are the letters at the back. They say this is a Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe, which would make it a States-bound model. It means it hides a two-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood delivering 241 hp to all four wheels. These sightings are becoming more frequent, with a Mercedes-Benz S550 Coupe getting spotted a few days ago as well.
