About one week ago, we showed you Porsche testing its 911 GT3 R racecar on the 2016 Nurburgring's new layout, while yesterday we brought you the first Touristenfahrten (public days) adventure of this year.
As you can expect, though, throwing large groups of more or less experienced drivers onto the Nordschleife will eventually lead to crashes, with the intense traffic being one of the major factors here.
Fortunately, we're here to talk about this year's first near-crash video, which means that, so far, the only consequence of people not keeping things in check on the 'Ring might be a pair of dirty trousers.
The footage below shows us two drivers who get extremely close to introducing their cars to the protection elements on the side of the Nordschleife. Interestingly enough, both drive front-wheel-drive cars that already have a respectable age. Nevertheless, the Green Hell has its way with any kind of traction system. After all, it did get its nickname for a reason.
The first guy in the clip, whom we'll call Audi man, demonstrates what happens when the (more or less intentional) trailbraking technique, which sees a driver leaving the final ten percent of the deceleration to be done while entering the corner, is applied poorly. The man continues to mash the brake pedal once he loses the back end, making things even worse, with an overcorrection maneuver following.
As for the second driver, we're dealing with a man in a Ford Puma who appears to overestimate the deceleration abilities of his car, hoping for some late-braking overtaking. He ends up running wide and slightly enters the gravel zone on the side of the track.
Now, before we end this piece and invite you to check out the driving bloopers in the video below, we need to mention we've added a second clip. Coming from BridgeToGantry, this offers a guide to the 2016 Nurburgring, something that should help you stay out of ka-bang trouble.
