Chevy fans wanting a racy Camaro for the road will have to wait until next year, but one lucky and possibly well to do member of the general public has scooped up the first ZL1 at this weekend’s Barrett-Jackson Auction for the cool sum of $250,000 (€183,000).
The figure is about four times as much as what regular customers will pay for the car that that celebrates the famous 1969 ZL1, but we can understand the urge to get behind the wheel first.
All of the money that was payed (no, not just the proceeds) will go to a good cause, the YMCA of Southern Nevada.
The man who got his ands on the ZL1 is NASCAR Sprint Cup team owner Rick Hendricks. His collection also includes the first Corvette ZR-1 and even the first new Camaro to roll off the line. His new wheels will be painted Carbon Flash Metallic.
