Fiat 500C, New Info and Photos

With the start of deliveries quickly approaching, Italian manufacturer Fiat does its best to advertise the company's new favorite baby, the 500C. To that end, they release new "on the road" photos of the convertible, probably to get us used to see it on the road.

As we told you before, the 500C is already available for order starting at 16,600 euro, but the car won't be here per se until July. In Italy, to mark the release of the car which pays tribute to the original 1957 Fiat 500 and its fabric roof, will be available for test drives starting July 4.

The 500C will come equipped with three engines, all sourced from its hardtop brother:

  • 1.3l MultiJet turbodiesel (75 hp), paired with a five-speed manual gearbox
  • 1.2l petrol engine (69 hp), paired with the Dualogic robotized gearbox
  • 1.2l petrol engine (100 hp), also paired with the Dualogic robotized gearbox

One of the most important features of the 500C is the roof. Available in three colors (ivory, red and black), it is powered by a full electric drive. It will combine with the two specially conceived body colors available for the car, Perlato Bright Red and Gray Warm, to maintain the retro yet playful look of the 500.

"As an expression of Italy’s finest automotive design, the 500 is not merely a super-compact city car, but a real platform upon which Fiat Automobiles is building a whole family of cars with advanced technology and high attention to detail. The new 500C represents another step forward in this direction," the company said in a release.

So far, Fiat says it has received no less than 360,000 orders for the new convertible, from all of the company's 59 markets, half of them coming from Europe.
