Ferrari Board of Directors to Meet Tomorrow

Ferrari announced that its Board of Directors is to meet tomorrow at the Maranello headquarters to officially discuss the situation of Ferrari within the Formula One Championship.

As confirmed by the car maker's official site, the meeting will focus on the first quarter performance and forecast of the year 2009 and current situation analysis, governance developments and the future of their F1 programme.

The Italian manufacturer is likely to discuss their future involvement in the Great Circle, following the newly-implemented 40M budget cap starting 2010. Company's CEO has already expressed his frustration over the new rules and threatened his team will reconsider their position inside the sport if the aforementioned budget limitation will be kept.

In addition, the Ferrari directors are also expected to discuss the future of their F1 management this year. Due to the considerable amount of mistakes made by the prancing horse this year – either strategic, or related to car's reliability – the team is only 7th overall in the manufacturers' classification, having scored only 6 points in 5 races.

Asked whether he feels his position within the Scuderia is in jeopardy, team principal Stefano Domenicali said he doesn't fear such a decision might be made and that he's at peace with himself for doing everything in his power to improve the team's performances this season.

Despite the troubles encountered by Ferrari at Barcelona, the team has certainly made a considerable progress as compared to the non-European events. Nevertheless, one more topic to be discussed by the Ferrari board could be a potential switch to the development of their 2010 challenger, considering this year's title fight has already been compromised.
