F1 Drivers Take to the Catwalk in Monaco

For those of you who were wondering how come the practice sessions of this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix have taken place on Thursday, instead of the usual Friday scheduling, know that the majority of drivers had other plans for Friday night, for which they had to prepare intensively.

As the grand prix in the Principality has always been surrounded by the glamourous world of fashion, some F1 drivers have decided to take part in the now-classic, yet exclusive and highly expensive VIP 'Amber Lounge' event, hosted by none other than former grand prix driver Eddie Irvine's sister, Sonia.

World champions Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Mika Hakkinen were all on the poolside catwalk, in addition to Nico Rosberg, Adrian Sutil, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Lucas di Grassi, Jaime Alguersuari, Heikki Kovalainen and Timo Glock.

As was the football match between the Nazionale Piloti (Drivers' team) and a team formed by celebrities prior to the Monaco Grand Prix this week, the catwalk session was all for charity, with all the funds raised being handed to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Missoni, Elizabeth Hurley Beach and Jimmy Choo were only a few designers who agreed to make available some of their fashion creations for the event, which is held annually as a tradition prior to the F1 race.

Later today, the drivers will be up and ready for the third and final practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix, after which the qualifying session is scheduled to take place starting 14.00 CET.
