Eminem Shows Support for Detroit Auto Workers

Don’t cry because you got laid-off from your job, be happy attending an Eminem live performance on the Pontiac Garage Outdoor Stage! Or at least that is how we can translate Eminem’s initiative of bringing approximately 200 laid-off auto workers from his home state of Michigan to Hollywood, CA for an exclusive late-night musical event on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" airing Friday, May 15 on ABC.

The auto workers, affected by the auto industry crisis, will come to Los Angeles at the late-night show to enjoy a rare talk and musical performance by the nine-time Grammy Award winner Eminem.

And that’s not all. The following week, each of the chosen autoworkers, along with a guest, will also be exclusively invited to an Eminem concert in Detroit to show support for the community and demonstrate the resiliency of the city.

To coincide with the release of Eminem's first studio album in four years, Relapse, on May 19, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" will air a new song from the album on both May 15 and May 19, with additional music on May 22 from his Detroit performance.

Emmy Award-winning "Jimmy Kimmel Live" will work in association with 5-Hour Energy to put on this unique performance shot live in front of a studio audience on the Pontiac Garage Outdoor Stage.

The artist told the Detroit Free Press, through his publicist, that news reports ignore people who have lost their jobs without getting big payouts after dedicating themselves to the auto industry. Eminem says he and Kimmel also want to show some of the autoworkers "a good time while we're at it."
