This is Elio Motors’ solution for cheap and economical transportation - a light three-wheeler that was recently unveiled and confirmed to be available in June 2014.
American carmaker Elio Motors has revealed a three-wheeler prototype that will be both economical and fun to drive. Priced under $7,000 (€5,330), the funky little machine will probably be powered by a 1-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine that will send its power to the front wheel via a five-speed automatic transmission.
Despite having a lightweight body, Elio said that the car meets every necessary four-wheel vehicle safety requirements, including three airbags, ABS and a full steel spaceframe.
In fuel efficiency matters, the 800 pounds (363 kg) is said to return 49 mpg (4.8 l/100 km) in the city and 84 mpg (2.8 l/100 km) on the highway, while reaching a top speed of more that 100 mph (161 km/h) and a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) sprint in less than 9.6 seconds.
