Edwards Visits US Soldiers at Camp Atterbury

While some riders have used the MotoGP summer break to take their minds off racing – except for Casey Stoner, who found out he'll have to take a 2-month vacation from motor sport due to a complicated medical condition – others have proceeded to prepare their upcoming outings this year.

It is the case of Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s American MotoGP star Colin Edwards, who decided to use the spare time this month to visit the U.S. soldiers at Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh, Indiana. It is the very place where, approximately 2 weeks from now, the former Superbike champion will return as part of the MotoGP caravan for the Indianapolis GP at the IMS.

Until then, however, Edwards decided to return the favor to his fellow American soldiers. As he revealed himself after his visit in Edinburgh, there are plenty of US soldiers coming to see the MotoGP riders in grandstands from all over the world, so he thought about giving something back to his feverish supporters.

Throughout traveling around the world, whenever we are in Germany, or England, or Japan, or whatever races we go to we always see military folks who come to watch and it is great to have them as fans. Sport is sport and whether people are in the military or not they are welcome as fans, but it is really great to have these guys with us,” said the Texan, according to MotoGP.com.

Edwards' return to MotoGP action will happen this weekend, however, as he'll try to improve his personal best at the Brno track. His most impressive results in Czech Republic happened back in 2004 and 2005, when he scored back-to-back 7th places while riding for Honda and Yamaha respectively.
