Edda Design Revamps the Buell 1125R

Spanish design firm Edda Design managed to revamp the 1125CR street bike just before Buell closed its doors in late 2009. The project we present to you today is the end result of the challenge taken by the company, but which will unfortunately never make it into production.

In an effort to keep the Buell spirit intact, yet giving it a fresh approach in terms of design, Edda Design came up with a project that would appeal to younger riders.

“Buell wanted to get a fresh look for the new entry in their famous and revered long line of motorbikes,” the guys at Edda Design say. “Whatever direction we took the project in, it was essential for us to keep the "Buell spirit" intact.”

“Buell users are very loyal to the brand and deeply connected to it on an emotional level, so in order to take it one step forward, to give them a new Buell experience, we had to get to know them very well,” the company says. “We designed a motorbike that would embody the essence of Buell and at the same time would appeal to younger users. 1125-CR was destined to take the great legacy of Buell to a new generation.”

Meanwhile, with Buell reborn as Erik Buell Racing, the world gets ready to welcome a 1190cc v-twin American street bike. Dubbed EBR 1190RS, the bike draws inspiration from the now defunct Buell Barracuda 2. However, official details on the new model are to be released after the agreement with Harley-Davidson will end in February 2011.

"There was no question that we had to start work on a new street motorcycle design for 2011, but we also knew we had to go racing at the highest level in 2010. The solution came from suggestions on our social media sites, where race fans told us they would support us directly if we would just set up a site. We could not have made the last four rounds of the series without these contributions, as we simply needed to invest our money into the new motorcycle," Buell stated back in September,
