The most powerful version of the recently-facelifted Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet is represented by a healthy, twin-turbocharged V8.
With a very reasonable 408 hp (402 bhp) and 600 Nm (443 lb ft) of torque, the E 550 Cabrio (E 500 Cabrio in Europe) is capable to accelerate from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.9 seconds.
In a normal world from 5-8 years ago, that would be equal to an AMG model, but keep in mind that the current E-Class Coupe and Cabrio don't really have an AMG version unfortunately.
The folks from AutoBlog recently had a quick spin in the Mercedes-Benz E 550 Cabrio and came back with quite a lot of words of praise for the model, most of them revolving around the punchy V8 and the huge array of safety systems incorporated in the Intelligent Drive dogma.
We had a drive in the E-Class Cabriolet ourselves a few weeks ago, and most of our conclusions seem to be similar to those that the AutoBlog reviewers had, with the exception that the Americans drove the model's most powerful version, which has both the show and the go if neeed.
