Ducati Panigale Burns after Highside Crash

Bad start for Alstare Ducati team in the private tests in Phillip Island, Australia: Carlos Checa missed the first two days due to a blocked intestine, while Ayrton Badovini miraculously escaped unharmed from a terrible highside crash. And that's what's left of Badovini's nice Ducati Panigale WSBK machine.

Ayrton Badovini crashed really hard in the second day of private tests at Phillip Island and his Panigale eventually caught on fire. Badovini was rushed by a helicopter to the same hospital his team mate Checa was in, with doctors fearing serious rib and knee injuries.

The medical test showed that Badovini was almost unscathed after the terrible crash, though a bit shaken. Medical personnel and Ducati officials declared that both riders are most likely to come back aboard their bikes at the beginning of the next week for the official tests.

The Phillip Island circuit has just been resurfaced and with no rubber on the track, most of the WSBK riders who rode really hard these tow days have crashed.
