Audi shows the first sales reports for Q1 2013 and we now see that the Borgo Panigale is some 5.2% down, a rather good figure compared to the estimated 17% worldwide decrease in motorcycle sales.
The Monsters are Ducati's bestseller machines, confirming the product's solid place in the Ducati family. With around 30% more units sold than the next best-selling segment, the Superbike, the Monster machines sales in Q1 show that customers are really appreciating their lower, more affordable price.

Next in line come the Multistrada and Diavel, thus completing the quartet of bikes which Ducati is somehow defined by, and this leaves the Hypermotard and Streetfighter as the worst-selling bikes. Judging by the number of bikes, these two combined barely surpass the number of sold Diavels. Such a situation may be “not that bad” but we believe that Ducati has higher hopes for these two models than just “being there”.

Now, with a rather long winter in Europe and the economical conditions in countries such as Greece, Spain or Italy, we'd say that 5% down in the first 3 months of 2013 is still on the safe side, but we're also waiting for more detailed financial figures to see the bigger, better picture.
