We reported recently about the change of perspective and strategy at Ducati as far as the Indian market is concerned. Ducati is back with a bang in one of the world's most important motorcycle markets and made a spectacular return in the world's largest Ducati Store, the one in New Delhi.
The first press conference held in India since the announcement that Borgo Panigale would be back took place at the recently opened store in New Delhi. Using this occasion, Ducati India Pvt. Ltd announced that two new models will be added to the Indian market, in the shape of the Scrambler Classic and the Scrambler Full Throttle.

India has the youngest of Ducati's subsidiaries with almost all the models on sale

Ducati India Pvt. Ltd is the latest addition to Ducati's business and represents the youngest of the 11 subsidiaries worldwide. Ducati's new approach to sales in India sees the internalization of all the aspects, and not leaving any of the factors unattended.

Ducati's previous experience on Indian soil went down in flames, as their former local partner was quickly overwhelmed by the size of the business. Precision Motor had not lived up to the expectations, both in terms of sales and aftersale services.

For the re-entry, Ducati made sure that all the operations are closely supervised, and all the personnel receives proper instruction. With a new, active branch in India, Ducati hopes that the first and massively positive signal from the market will be turned into solid commercial success.

No Streetfighter mentioned, is this the beginning of the end?

Ducati's plans for India include the Monster 821, Monster S2R and 795 alongside the Hypermotard and Hyperstrada, the entire Diavel family and the 899, 1299, 1299 S and Panigale R sport bikes.

Strange to see the Monster 1200 and 1200S missing from the list, but maybe Ducati is waiting to see how the existing machines sell. Interestingly, the Streetfighter 848 is missing from this list, and this fuels the rumors that Borgo Panigale would allegedly make preparations to phase it out.

While such plans remain, so far, a mystery, it looks like the Scrambler machines that will be sold in India will, after all, be manufactured in Ducati's Thailand plant.
