Being part of a pit crew is a really demanding job, both physically and mentally. You have to keep your concentration at all time, while also staying fit, in order to perform your task as quickly and efficiently as you can. However, all the attention in the world couldn’t have saved these four pit crew members who were injured during a recent DTM race.
The incident took place in the pit lane of the Zandvoort DTM race, on August 24th, when brother of much-more-famous racing driver Michael Schumacher, Ralf, accidentally snagged one of the hoses lying around the pit area with the rear wing of his Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, whipping the pit guys into the air - their landing was anything but pleasant.
They were all taken to hospital, and three of the four injured went home the same day, with the fourth guy still under observation.
