With all the fuss about autonomous driving, it seems that a British driver has attempted to take such developments into his own hans. In fact, Richard Newton, 36, took his hands off the matter, receiving a hefty set of penalties after being filmed while driving without his hands on the wheel.
The man was filmed by the North Yorkshire Police's mobile safety camera on the A171 and received a one-year driving ban. Since he did this for about 25 seconds and at speeds of about 60 mph (90 km/h) while other cars were coming the other way, the man has been punished with more than not being allowed to enjoy his VW Golf II for 12 months.

Newton also received GBP685 (EUR or USD) in fines, while also being sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid labor in the community by the Scarborough Magistrates' Court.

Not such a great automotive testing career then...
