Following the sales results of the first quarter of 2024, it turns out that sports cars are still dwindling, but Ford's Mustang rules undefeated across the sector, sanely beating the discontinued Challenger and Camaro.
In fact, with 13,707 deliveries during Q1 of 2024, the S650 Ford Mustang was a slower seller than its S550 predecessor during Q1 last year. Be that as it may, it still fared better than all of its rivals, including the Dodge Challenger, which sold 9,737 examples, down 14 percent or the Chevy Camaro, which hit an abysmal 3,574 deliveries, dropping over 54% compared to the same period of 2023.

According to our friends over at corvetteblogger.com, now is the best time to be a Corvette salesman, not just an enthusiast – C8s sold a total of 8,576 examples, up 8.5% year-over-year. That means it's breathing in the neck of the Dodge Challenger and will soon overcome its position in the sales charts.

There's still some work to be done as far as the quarter-mile dragstrip is concerned, though, and we're eagerly waiting for the upcoming C8 ZR1 that was recently teased ahead of its summer unveiling – these two should provide a shock in places like the four-lane The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Until then, no worries, we're not angry that a crimson C8 Chevy Corvette Stingray tried its luck against a Dodge Challenger. The only problem, according to the videographer behind the Wheels Plus channel on YouTube, who is a big fan of The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and witnessed something Mopar going on, is that the C8 chose as an opponent, an SRT Hellcat Redeye.

For all intents and purposes, that Mopar and its driver were ready to make a splash – both literally and figuratively – at the racetrack because it was adamantly clear the owner knew what he or she was doing. The C8 even got the hit, as the Mopar team was obviously confident of their motoring abilities. Indeed, the comeback was nothing short of spectacular, hence the 9.51s versus 11.6 victory.

Secondly, later during the night, this Challenger also lined up with a black Chevy Camaro. On this occasion, though, no mercy was asked or granted, and the Redeye immediately took command and control of the race, putting a few bus lengths between them. In the end, the difference was quite obvious: 9.49s versus 10.89s.

Last but not least, there was also a bit of sibling rivalry – the third and final race showcasing the skills of the driver in the red-and-white Challenger was put to the test by another Mopar enthusiast driving a black (with gold wheels) Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. In the end, there can be only one, and the modded Challenger secured another flawless 9.64s versus 11.11s victory.
