Not too long ago, the guys from Dinan Engineering were introducing their new D-Tronics Performance Tuner that was supposed to breathe new life into your 335i, 550i or M5. The numbers they told us you could get were absolutely amazing.
The 335i, for example, could go up from 306 HP to 364 HP just by pushing a couple of buttons. The 550i would reach a maximum level of 539 HP and 571 lb-ft (774 Nm) of torque, at stage 3 while the M5 would be taken up to 631 HP and 622 lb-ft (843 Nm) of torque.

Those numbers simply stunned us. However, that’s not all. A lot of people asked what Dinan can do for ZCP M5 models. If you’re not acquainted with Bimmer speak, that’s the Competition Package M5.

As you probably know, the ZCP M5 has 15 extra horsepower on the stock model and whole bunch of other upgrades. With 575 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque, the rear-wheel drive uber-sedan will do 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds.

So, at the fans’ request, the American tuner looked into what can be done with the D-Tronics unit and came up with some really impressive numbers.

Their first results show that the stage 1 upgrade will take your car’s power output up to 661 HP and 647 lb-ft (877 Nm) of torque while the Stage 2 upgrade will reach no less than 680 HP and 649 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. However, for the Stage 2 setup you’ll also need a better intake and exhaust.

For now, all parts are available only for pre-orders but we’re assured that everyone over at Dinan is working to make them available as soon as possible.
