Darren Turner Launches Base Performance

One of the UK’s most appreciated drivers and double Le Mans winner, Darren Turner founded a new organization in order to improve the development in speed, accuracy and value of racing simulators.

Named Base Performance, the company aims to support race teams and vehicle manufacturers in developing simulators to improve their performances.

Well, it may be just another fish in the sea, but Turner seems to be extremely confident in the company’s success. “We see teams spending months and sometimes years transforming their simulator technology into a fully usable and dependable package, and this leads to increased costs and a lack of performance transferred to the track or road,” he said.

“What we offer is a blueprint to quickly develop and optimise simulators into workable tools, and to achieve better results; a confidential consultancy service designed to slash development time and increase efficiency.”

In addition, Base Performance will also provide help to the road car and tuning industry. "We have expertise in developing high performance road cars,” said Turner in a self-praising statement. “We are able to drive, assess and provide feedback at the limit of a vehicle’s capability, whilst performing consistent or repeatable drive cycles.”

Moreover, the company’s driver engineers say they are able o interpret and understand logging data from the leading providers in order to achieve the best results. The team also offers its support to younger drivers through driver development and coaching programs.

“We go beyond traditional driver mentoring programmes,” concluded Turner. “Even quick drivers may lack the ability to set up a car or get the most from a simulator. With much more emphasis on this as a development and evaluation tool, learning how to use one is essential part of the modern, professional driver.”
