You might be wondering why you are not looking at a photo of the new SL, or why this isn’t even the previous model, but the pre-facelift version of the ex-generation. The answer is simple: because the aftermarket world covers much more than just brand new models.
Thus, we are offering you the adjacent image gallery, which shows a Mercedes SL55 AMG riding on D2 Forged wheels. The roadster is wearing a set of MB1 Monoblock Forged Wheels, which use a graphite finish that comes with a stripe for an attention bonus. Sure, when people go for aftermarket wheels, many of them turn to wild colors, but this isn't the case here. Still, the hue of the wheels does fir the Silver Arrows theme present on any Mercedes-Benz sportscar, so you won't hear us complaining.

The rollers feature a double-spoke design that seems to be a bit more modern than the factory styling cues of the car. Nevertheless, this has an interesting effect, basically pushing the Affalterbach machine closer to the present day design altogether.

The MB1 wheels come in a 20x9-inch size for the front axle and in a size of 20x11-inch for the rear one, using 255/30 and 305/25 tires, respectively, with these not only bringing a dynamic advantage, but also an appearance premium.

Speaking of driving dynamics, we mustn't forget we're talking about a delicious supercharged setup here.

The 5,439 cc V8 relies on a blower to place 476 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) at the mercy of the driver’s right foot. With the help of a six-speed slushbox, the SL55 AMG can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standing start in under 4.6 seconds, which is uber quick even by today’s standards.

Don’t ask about the top speed though, since this is affected by the usual 155 mph (250 km/h) electronic limiter. Not that the tuning world doesn’t have solution for that.
