The CT500 chargers are 7.2 kw single output stations which deliver 208/240 V, 30 A charging for plug-in electric vehicles that comply with the SAE J1772 charging standard. The unit is small in size and compatible with Leviton’s Evr-Green EVSE installation system, the first ever prewire mounting system for charging stations.
“Coulomb has the most comprehensive and established product line and application services offering in the industry,” Richard Lowenthal, Coulomb CEO said when announcing the new chargers.
“The addition of our residential charging stations coincides with the introduction of electric vehicles to the mass market. Our charging stations are available to order today and will bring all of the features and benefits people expect from the ChargePoint Network.”
Last month, the charging solutions provider partnered with American manufacturer Ford to provide nearly 5,000 free in-home charging stations under the Ford Blue Oval ChargePoint Program. Residences in Austin, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, Sacramento, the San Jose/San Francisco Bay Area, Redmond, Wash., and Washington D.C. will be the ones to get the Coulomb chargers.
A recent study conducted by Pike Research showed that 4.7 million charge points will be installed worldwide from now and until the year 2015. In 2009 and 2010, several companies began providing charging solutions for EVs and PHEVs: AeroVironment, Better Place, Coulomb, ECOtality, GE, Panasonic, Samsung, and Siemens.
