Cosworth Has Engines Ready for Shipping

Formula One returnee engine supplier Cosworth announced earlier today that it has already made available for shipping the first engines for the 2010 F1 championship to the teams it will partner through the duration of the upcoming season.

In 2010, no less than 5 F1 teams will use Cosworth powerplant for their operations, including newcomers Lotus F1 Team, Campos Meta, Virgin Racing, US F1 and British team Williams F1. Frank Williams decided to terminate his team's engine deal with Toyota at the end of last season and switch to Cosworth also, following his partnership with the British engine manufacturer until 2006.

The brand new units are to leave Cosworth's headquarters in Northampton in the next few days, with 5 different destinations. That will give the teams plenty of time to incorporate the new engines into their 2010 challenger and make the necessary designing adjustments by the beginning of the testing season, in early February.

The first batch of CA2010 units is boxed and ready for our customers to press ahead with installation, fire-up and initial testing. We're looking forward to seeing them all on track next month since there is still a lot of work to do before the season starts,” said Mark Gallagher, Cosworth's general manager in a statement.

After the very busy summer and autumn months when we were putting our program together it has been very rewarding to see the first engines ready for action thanks to the hard work of everyone here at Cosworth and our suppliers,” added Gallagher.

From all the teams mentioned above, only Williams is likely to debut the 2010 car at Valencia, from February 1 to 3, as all the new F1 entries are to take their cars to the track in mid-February.
